SKELETON WATCHES

Skeleton watches are typically ornate yet minimal in that they strip away any non-essential metal cladding to expose the mechanical, functional part of the watch. Leaving only the "bare skeleton".  Designs sometimes include a cutaway of the watch face or a removal all together expressing the beautiful innerworkings like the oscillating, "beating heart" of the balance wheel or the watch movement.

When looking for the best skeleton watches there are 2 types of movements to consider, automatic (self-winding) or mechanical (manual winding). Mechanical movement or manual winding watches typically will have a power reserve that will last anywhere from 36 to 48 hours. Automatic watches will always be wound as long as you use it regularly as your wrist's natural movements turn the oscillating weight to wind the watch. You can also store your watch in an automatic watch winder when not in use to conserve its power.
